Pre-meeting intake. Six 90 minute sessions divided between introducing areas of craft, reading recommendations, and feedback on new work. Lots of play and discovery.
Session 1: Utilizing Sensory Imagery, and metaphor/simile
Session 2: Poetry forms and genres and the relationship between form and content
Session 3: Types of rhyme, sonic qualities, poetry’s musicality, and its relationship to tone
Session 4: The line, line breaks, stanza, white space, capitalization, and enjambment.
Session 5: The speaker of the poem versus the author, appropriation, power, politics, etc.
Session 6: Writing process, inspiration, the editor vs inner critic, the project of the poem.
